Lukashenko asks Russia for a police reserve

At the request of Head of State Lukashenko, Russia is sending a police force to the neighboring country. He would have made a promise to his counterpart Putin for this.

According to President Vladimir Putin, Russia is going to set up a reserve police for neighboring Belarus. That’s what President Alexander Lukashenko asked him, Putin said in Moscow, according to Interfax news agency. Lukashenko had promised not to deploy the force until the crisis got out of hand.

According to the RIA, Putin added that Russia does not currently need to deploy Russian forces in Belarus. He had the impression that the situation in Belarus was normalized.
