Police have tracked down a 65-year-old man who kept his already dead mother at home. Apparently, he was looking for her pension.
A man is alleged to have kept his mother’s body at home in Bruchsal for five years to collect her pension. Neighbors had not seen the woman for a long time and reported the police, who drove to the apartment complex on Monday night.
The 65-year-old was initially involved in controversy, police and prosecutors said on Friday. He then led the officers to the body in a first-floor bedroom.
According to her son, the mother died in August 2015 at the age of 89. The man stated that he had no income of his own; so he lived on the mother’s pension benefits. The Karlsruhe Prosecutor’s Office ordered an autopsy.
It confirmed the date of death in 2015. The cause of death has not yet been determined. The man is now being investigated for fraud.
