Olivos (AP) – According to a decision by his doctor and his family, Diego Maradona would have to stay in the hospital after surgery because of a brain haemorrhage.
“He wants to go, but he stays. It was a joint decision,” his personal doctor Leopoldo Luque told journalists on arrival at the clinic in Olivos, north of Buenos Aires, where Maradona is being treated. “It was one of the few times that Diego heard a ‘no’.”
Maradona will be detained in the clinic after “episodes of confusion” as a result of forced abstinence. “Diego is very difficult, very difficult,” added Luque. ‘You can’t imagine it. We try to be stronger than him. ‘ Maradona repeatedly struggles with addiction problems as a result of alcohol and drugs.
On November 3, Luque had undergone surgery for a subdural hematoma in 1986, when the World Champion of Football. This is bleeding between the hard meninges and the brain. According to his medical team, the operation was successful.
Maradona was rushed to a hospital in La Plata a few days after his 60th birthday. Initially, there was only emotional stress, anemia, and dehydration. During the tests, the bleeding was discovered in the Argentinian football legend.
