According to media reports, Mario Götze has a new club. However, the ex-BVB professional leaves the Bundesliga and does not switch to Hertha. Götze must be moved to the Netherlands.
Ex-international Mario Götze is about to move to PSV Eindhoven. “Sport Bild” and the Dutch media reported on Tuesday evening. Until recently there had been speculation as to whether Götze would sign with the capital club Hertha BSC – among others, “Bild” and “Kicker” reported.
Götze is already in Eindhoven
Now Götze faces a move to the Netherlands, where the transfer window only closes today. The 28-year-old is already in Eindhoven and is doing the medical examination.
Götze started his Bundesliga career in 2009 with Borussia Dortmund, where he won the championship title in 2011 and 2012. In 2013 he moved to FC Bayern for three years before returning to BVB after the 2016 European Championship. In 2014 he scored the gold goal of the World Cup in the World Cup final in Rio. Götze’s contract expired last summer. He had not received a new contract with Borussia.
In Eindhoven, Götze was to meet former Bundesliga coach Roger Schmidt. However, there are also a number of players under contract with the Dutch first division, including Philipp Max, Timo Baumgartl and Adrian Fein, who was only recently loaned from FC Bayern Munich.
