Berlin (dpa) – Even a goal from scorer Andrej Kramaric didn’t save TSG 1899 Hoffenheim from their first defeat in the Bundesliga.
The Kraichgauer lost 1: 2 (1: 0) at Eintracht Frankfurt – the still unbeaten Hesse took over the lead on the 3rd match day. With a 4-0 (1-0) victory over SC Freiburg, number two Borussia Dortmund improved to second place.
The third defeat in the third game faced 1. FC Köln with a 1: 3 (0: 2) in the Rhine derby against Borussia Mönchengladbach. On the other hand, SV Werder Bremen was happy with the second success of the season with a 1-0 (1-0) against the newly promoted Arminia Bielefeld. Returnees VfB Stuttgart defied the Bayer 04 Leverkusen Werkself without a win with a 1: 1 (0: 1).
Not even a Kramaric can fix everything. The Croatian’s sixth goal of the season was not enough for the Hoffenheim team – although it was extremely rewarding to watch. Surrounded by five Frankfurters, the Croat remained calm and organized and threw the ball into the corner with his left foot in the 18th minute. Thanks to a strong second half with Daichi Kamada in top form, the Frankfurt team managed to turn things around. First the Japanese (54th) met himself, when Bas Dost (71st) played a goal, he played a key role in the preparation.
After defeats in the league against FC Augsburg and in the Supercup against FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund has achieved the hoped-for mood improvement. 11,500 spectators experienced a powerful home team against the guests from Freiburg after Erling Haaland (31st) scored the opening goal in the Borussia football temple. National player Emre Can (47th) right after the break with a header goal, before the Norwegian Haaland (66th) struck again with his brutal determination and later Felix Passlack (90th + 2) to 4-0. The fact remains: sports club coach Christian Streich simply cannot win with the Breisgauers against BVB.
With an end to the sobering scoreless record, it was nothing again. In front of 300 admitted spectators, the Gladbachers worsened Cologne’s situation with a double pack within three minutes, already waiting for a victory for 13 games in all seasons. Alassane Plea (14th) gave Timo Horn no chance in the goal of Cologne. The goalkeeper, who had recently made two decisive mistakes, was shortly afterwards surprised by Stefan Lainer in the short corner. Granted goal number three: Lars Stindl converted a penalty kick (56th). For Champions League participants Mönchengladbach, it was the first victory of the season in the league, and Elvis Rexhbecaj’s subsequent goal (84th) didn’t change anything.
Second win in the third game: SV Werder continues to accumulate points at the start of the season. The upgraded Bielefeld suffered their first defeat. After a Leonardo Bittencourt goal was initially not recognized by video evidence, the 26-year-old struck again shortly afterwards. This time, the goal was scored in the 27th minute. It was enough.
Defeat, win, draw: VfB Stuttgart returnees won at least one point against Leverkusen. Bayer’s team took the lead early on: loaned Patrik Schick scored in the seventh minute. Moments later, the goalscorer was injured. Daley Sinkgraven did not survive the first half hour either. With the first win of the season for Leverkusen from coach Peter Bosz, it was nothing again: Sasa Kalajdzic (76th) equalized for VfB.
On Saturday evening, RB Leipzig will receive FC Schalke, on Sunday VfL Wolfsburg will play against FC Augsburg and defending champion Bayern at Hertha BSC.
