Berlin (AP) – RB Leipzig spoils coach Manuel Baum’s debut at FC Schalke 04, Eintracht Frankfurt takes care of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim’s first defeat.
The league lead in the Bundesliga changed twice on Saturday: for now, Leipzig took over the top (7) for Eintracht thanks to a 4-0 (3-0) victory against the Krisen-Königsblauen.
The team from Frankfurt previously won 2-1 (0-1) against Hoffenheim in the surprising top match on the 3rd matchday at home. With a 4-0 (1-0) home win against SC Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund also came into play again. On this Sunday FC Augsburg can climb to the first place with a victory over VfL Wolfsburg, defending champion FC Bayern Hertha BSC in the second match.
The third defeat in the third game faced 1. FC Köln with a 1: 3 (0: 2) in the Rhine derby against Borussia Mönchengladbach. On the other hand, SV Werder Bremen was happy with the second success of the season with a 1-0 (1-0) against the newly promoted Arminia Bielefeld. Returnees VfB Stuttgart defied the Bayer 04 Leverkusen Werkself without a win with a 1: 1 (0: 1).
It wasn’t even enough for the Schalke team against strong Leipzigers. After the first half, the visiting team was behind the new trainer Baum with three goals. An own goal by Can Bozdogan (31st) led to the defeat, Angelino (35th) and Willi Orban (45th + 2) raised before half time. RB did not keep the pressure high in the second section, otherwise it could have been worse for Baum, who had to replace the goalkeeper at half time. With a penalty kick, country player Marcel Halstenberg (78th) increased to 4-0.
Not even an Andrej Kramaric can fix everything. Surrounded by five Frankfurters, Kraichgauer’s Croatian striker kept the overview and threw the ball into the corner with his left foot in the 18th minute. Thanks to a strong second half with Daichi Kamada in top form, the Frankfurt team managed to turn things around. First the Japanese (54th) met himself, when Bas Dost (71st) played a goal, he played a key role in the preparation.
After defeats in the league against FC Augsburg and in the Supercup against FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund has achieved the hoped-for mood improvement. After the opening goal of Erling Haaland (31st), national player Emre Can (47th) scored after the break with a header before the Norwegian Haaland (66th) struck again and later Felix Passlack (90th + 2) to make it 4: 0 hung up. The fact remains: sports club coach Christian Streich simply cannot win with the Breisgauers against BVB.
In front of 300 admitted spectators, the Gladbachers worsened the situation of Cologne, who is now already 13 games in all seasons waiting for a victory. Alassane Plea (14th) gave Timo Horn no chance in the goal of Cologne. The goalkeeper, who had recently made two decisive mistakes, was shortly afterwards surprised by Stefan Lainer in the short corner. Granted goal number three: Lars Stindl converted a penalty kick (56th). For Champions League participants Mönchengladbach, it was the first victory of the season in the league, and Elvis Rexhbecaj’s subsequent goal (84th) didn’t change anything.
Second win in the third game: SV Werder continues to accumulate points at the start of the season. Meanwhile, newly promoted Bielefeld suffered their first defeat. After a Leonardo Bittencourt goal was initially not recognized by video evidence, the 26-year-old struck again shortly afterwards. The goal was scored in the 27th minute.
Defeat, win, draw: VfB Stuttgart returnees won at least one point against Leverkusen. Bayer’s team took the lead early on: loaned Patrik Schick scored in the seventh minute. Moments later, the goalscorer was injured. Daley Sinkgraven did not survive the first half hour either. With the first win of the season for Leverkusen from coach Peter Bosz, it was nothing again: Sasa Kalajdzic (76th) equalized for VfB.
