Milan / Reykjavik (dpa) – The EM qualifier of the U21 teams from Italy and Iceland in Reykjavik has been postponed after several corona cases among the guests.
The Icelandic authorities have decided to quarantine the Italian national football team, the Italian association announced. Previously, two other players and a team leader of the junior selection had tested positive. Icelandic Football Association KSI said the game scheduled for Friday had been “indefinitely postponed”.
The Italians announced on Wednesday that two of the U21 players nominated for the qualifier had positive test results at the training center. They did not travel to Iceland and have been in quarantine ever since. One of them, according to the club Inter Milan, is defender Alessandro Bastoni.
Three more players have also been tested positive for the corona virus since Wednesday, the club announced on Friday. The footballers are midfielders Roberto Gagliardini and Radja Nainggolan and substitute Ionut Radu.
