Leipzig (AP) – Joachim Löw sent Joshua Kimmich, who had injured his knee, to wish for recovery after his surgery.
“We are pleased that Joshua survived the procedure well and wish him a speedy recovery, but above all a full recovery,” said the national team manager in a statement from the German Football Association. Kimmich had to undergo surgery on the external meniscus on November 8 and is out for several weeks.
“Of course we will miss him in the Nations League matches,” said Löw before the matches against Ukraine in Leipzig and three days later in Seville against Spain. Löw had not planned the 25-year-old for the previous test match against the Czech Republic in Leipzig. Where FC Bayern will have to do without Kimmich at least until the end of the year, Löw can plan again with the defensive midfielder in the first international matches in March 2021.
