Stuttgart (dpa) – Even after the negative corona tests, national coach Joachim Löw and the national football players must adhere to strict hygiene rules in their team hotel and during training.
“We want to comply with all measures, hygiene and mask requirements, to make sure that if something goes wrong, we have at least done everything so that it does not suffer too much. Because there is no absolute security with Corona”, DFB chief physician Tim Meyer said in a video interview from the German Football Association.
The next Corona test for the Nations League match is scheduled for Wednesday a day later in Stuttgart against Spain. “UEFA has established a schedule that applies uniformly to all competitions,” said Meyer. Tests will also be carried out in Switzerland 24 hours before the race on Sunday. Meyer spoke of a generally relatively tight schedule.
“We can only try to increase security as much as possible,” said the 52-year-old. The first tests were conducted on Monday after the national players arrived at the team hotel. All results were negative, so Löw was allowed to ask his team for the first practice.
Today, the national coach continues the preparations for the game in Spain with a new training. Then, according to assistant Marcus Sorg, the loads will be evenly distributed throughout the crew. On Monday, the national players were split into three groups, depending on their fitness level. “So far we have always managed to get the players to a good level and that should be our goal,” said Sorg.
