Zurich (dpa) – The FIFA world association is expanding its support for women’s football. A total of eight new programs will be launched for the period 2020-2023, the world association announced. These are open to all member associations and are funded from various sources.
There are programs for women’s football strategy, league development and scholarships and coach mentoring programs to promote women’s football depending on the level of development of the member association.
“The first-class FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019, with over a billion TV viewers, has impressively supported the incredible development of women’s football,” said Sarai Bareman, FIFA Women’s Football Director. “Now we want to anchor women’s football even more in society: by working together with the affiliated associations, we can make women’s football accessible to everyone.”
