Nigeria is the only country in Africa with a curling team. But the team has to train abroad. A fundraising campaign will change this.
The Nigerian Curling Federation wants to build its own ice rink. As the sports portal “Inside the games” reports, the sports association has therefore started a fundraising campaign. It would be the first curling hall in Africa.
The curlers are still a long way from the purpose of donation. Six million euros is needed, since May only 600 euros have been raised.
The Nigerian curling team has already celebrated a historic success without having its own hall. The team defeated France 8-5 at the 2019 Mixed Doubles World Championships. It was the first-ever victory for an African country in curling at a World Championship.
