The football talk “Doppelpass” is part of the regular Sunday program for many football fans. Now there is a spectacular new addition to the team of moderators – and one departure.

Florian König is the new presenter of the football program “Doppelpass” at Sport1. The former RTL journalist confirmed this to Chillreport. The “Bild” had reported about it before. After years of working as a Formula 1 reporter at RTL, König changes the station and the sport.

König will take over the discussion round next August. At RTL, the 53-year-old was also used as a presenter at national team competitions. Formula 1 will no longer be seen on the Cologne private broadcaster from 2021.

Further cooperation

The current “Doppelpass” host Thomas Helmer took over the broadcast in 2015 from Jörg Wontorra. The former Bayern professional wants to spend more time with the family. Helmer will do his last “one-two” show after the European Championship in July 2021.

Helmer does not stop as a moderator at Sport1, however. There is a need to talk about further cooperation. “I would have liked to continue, but in the future I would like to have more time for possible new topics and projects,” said Helmer.
