Zurich (dpa) – After the Bundesliga and UEFA, FIFA has also drawn up an extensive corona protocol, including the controversial rules for the release of national players during the pandemic.
In contrast to the international matches in September, the lifting of the parking obligation is now subject to conditions, but the world football association still meets the requirements of the European professional clubs with the new requirements.
Clubs are not required to park their players if there is a mandatory five-day quarantine or travel restriction to any of these locations at the club site or the venue of the international match. On the other hand, there is an obligation to be released if the authorities have granted the teams a “specific exceptional permit”. For the international windows in October and November, the arrangement will continue until the end of the year.
Recently, representatives of several Bundesliga clubs have sharply criticized the obligation to park and expressed concern that players could miss their clubs’ matches due to quarantine regulations. Polish Hertha professional Krzysztof Piątek was not allowed to participate in the cup match against Eintracht Braunschweig (4: 5) in September due to a Berlin quarantine regulation.
For the German national team games in October, the new rules also mean that the DFB professionals will not play against the DFB professionals, neither in Ukraine, nor after their return from the Nations League game in Kyiv (October 10) for the next match in Cologne. Switzerland (October 13) is threatened with quarantine.
The North Rhine-Westphalia Corona Protection Regulation provides that the quarantine requirement does not apply to a series of corona tests in the case of travel to Ukraine that cannot be postponed for work. National coach Joachim Löw and his players can prove this series of tests.
The amended termination scheme in the wording:
“The regulations for parking players for club teams according to Appendix 1 [des Reglements bezüglich Status und Transfer von Spielern] are used as usual unless:
I. There is a mandatory quarantine or self-isolation of at least five days upon arrival at: a. Location of the club that the player has to park for a club team, or b. Place where the game of an association team takes place, or
ii. there is a travel restriction to or from one of these locations (cf. lit. a or b) and
iii. the competent authorities have not granted specific exemption to the players of an association team in relation to the above decisions. “
