In Rhineland-Palatinate, a body could not be identified until 26 years after it was found. Apparently the man died in a violent crime. Now the police are looking for witnesses.
More than two and a half decades after a body was found in Idar-Oberstein, police clarified the identity of the man who was the victim of a violent crime. According to current knowledge, it was a resident of Poland who was 46 years old at the time of the crime, investigators said.
The man’s body was discovered in 1994 in a forest near Georg-Weierbach, a district of Idar-Oberstein (Birkenfeld district). She was wrapped in a Bundeswehr sleeping bag and blue garbage bags.
Despite the striking tattoos on the chest and arms, identification was not possible for a long time. The police are now looking for witnesses who can help solve the crime.
