Two police officers were seriously injured in a serious accident on the A6. A day after the accident, a 33-year-old officer died of his injuries.
While attempting to document an accident on the highway, a police officer was hit by another car. The 33-year-old died of his injuries in hospital on Wednesday evening, Oberpfalz police station said. His 50-year-old colleague, who was also hit by the car, is still in danger.
The two police officers were summoned on Tuesday afternoon for a minor accident involving two trucks and a car on the A6 near the town of Amberg in Upper Palatinate. Police said the accident site was secured while the accident was being recorded. However, the 34-year-old driver of a car, who apparently wanted to avoid it, slipped and hit the police.
“The expert must determine exactly how that happened,” said a police spokeswoman. He must also reconstruct where the police officers were at the time of the accident. However, it has taken weeks, the spokeswoman said. The investigators are looking for witnesses who observed the accident on Tuesday evening.
