In Baden-Württemberg, a special police stormed an apartment in which a man was holding a knife. The 53-year-old did not survive the mission.
A 53-year-old man armed with a knife was fatally injured by a gunshot during a police operation in Offenburg. The police headquarters and the public prosecutor of Offenburg announced this Sunday evening in a joint press release. The officials assume a “supposed psychological emergency” of the man.
According to the report of a witness who reported via the emergency call shortly after 10 a.m., he was initially armed with a knife on Berliner Strasse, it is said. Then he retired to an apartment.
Special forces storm the apartment, killing 53-year-olds
Several police patrols tried to get in touch with the man who, still armed with the knife, showed up in front of a window from time to time. The officers could have seen that the man was apparently injured.
The special police forces finally broke into the man’s house around 4:30 PM and the deadly shot was fired. A police spokesperson said in the evening whether multiple shots had been fired or whether there was only one subject of the criminal investigation department’s ongoing investigation.
