Augsburg (AP) – Felix Götze of FC Augsburg is at home in quarantine because of a positive corona test. As the Bundesliga club announced, the midfielder also had a positive result during his vacation after a positive test among friends.

Götze was “completely symptom-free and had no prior contact with teammates or functional team,” the club said. After two negative tests, Götze should rejoin the team.

The Swabians started preparations for the new season on Monday. Diagnostic tests, including a lactate test, had to be carried out in the Rosenaustadion. “It’s not the best, but it’s just part of it,” said defender Jeffrey Gouweleeuw. The newcomers Rafal Gikiewicz (1. FC Union Berlin), Tobias Strobl (Borussia Mönchengladbach) and Daniel Caligiuri (FC Schalke 04) were sweating along.

In contrast, the goalkeepers Andreas Luthe and Fabien Giefer were no longer there after the switch to Union Berlin and the Würzburger Kickers. Defender Kevin Danso is still on holiday after his English Premier League loan to Southampton FC. Georg Teigl and Julian Schieber “did not have to take the tests either, as they train individually and have the opportunity to look for a new club,” the FCA said.
