RB Leipzig beat Werder Bemen on Saturday and is currently on top. Cologne and Freiburg achieved significant victories in the table cellar.
Borussia Dortmund experienced a home debacle against VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga and is in danger of losing contact with the top of the table. BVB lost to VfB 1: 5 (1: 1) on Saturday (more on that here) and after three consecutive league games without a win, he is five points behind RB Leipzig. The Saxons won 2-0 (2-0) from Werder Bremen and took at least the first place from FC Bayern Munich, which will have to compete against 1. FC Union Berlin that evening.
Leipzig took the lead with a penalty against Bremen. Marcel Sabitzer brought about a conversion (26th), Dani Olmo added (41st) for the hosts before the break. The Saxons have been unbeaten in the league since the end of October. Bremen, on the other hand, suffered its third loss in a row and is in danger of slipping into the table.
Gladbach shoots alone
Borussia Mönchengladbach missed getting closer to the top group. The Gladbach team separated from Hertha BSC 1: 1 (0: 0) and remained seventh. The Gladbachers rotated to six positions three days after reaching the last sixteen of the Champions League and got no further than a draw at home against Hertha. Newcomer Matteo Guendouzi from Berlin put the guests ahead with his first Bundesliga goal (47th), Breel Embolo equalized (70th).
In the basement of the table, 1. FC Köln scored 1-0 (0-0) at FSV Mainz 05 and SC Freiburg, who defeated Arminia Bielefeld 2-0 (0-0), scored important victories.
Mainz remained in the relegation zone in 17th place and promoted Bielefeld 16th after their defeats in acute distress. Elvis Rexhbecaj decided the game in Mainz in favor of Cologne (55th). Vincenzo Grifo (79./foul penalty) and Wooyeong Jeong (90. + 2) met in Freiburg.
