Qatar reiterates strong support for Palestinian rights, a statement from the Qatar Foreign Ministry on Sunday highlighted the situation in Doha.
The statement said that the situation in Qatar was in favor of the Palestinians. And the root causes of the long-running conflict with Israel must be identified and addressed.
The statement called for an end to Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state to Jerusalem as its capital.
Earlier this month, Amir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani of Qatar met with Jared Kushner, the senior adviser and son-in-law of US President Donald Trump. During the meeting, Qatari Amir Amir said his country wanted a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani said that his country was committed to the 2002 Arab peace process.
In return for normalizing relations with Israel, the initiative called for the removal of Israeli occupation of the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem after the 1967 Middle East War and the establishment of a Palestinian state there.
At a time when Qatar is repeatedly reiterating its support for the Palestinians, Saudi-influenced countries in the Middle East have an increasing inclination towards Israel. Riyadh’s allies, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, have already established relations with Israel. And US President Donald Trump has said that Saudi Arabia will also recognize Israel.
Trump said that most countries in the Middle East are interested in an agreement with Israel. Seven to nine countries will establish normal relations with Israel. It also includes Saudi Arabia. Talked to the king of the country about this. Decision will be taken in due time.
