Madrid (AP) – With goalscorer Toni Kroos in the starting line-up, Real Madrid rightly won the Atlético derby 2-0 (1-0) and moved up to three points in the Spanish Primera Division.
Casemiro headed Los Blancos after a corner kick from national footballer Kroos (15th minute); after an own goal by Jan Oblak (63.), the game was over for the clearly better team of coach Zinedine Zidane. Atlético suffered their first defeat of the season in their eleventh league game.
Three days after reaching the last 16 of the Champions League in the championship, Real Madrid climbed to third place with 23 points. Atlético (26) remains ahead of the table for Real Sociedad San Sebastian (25).
