Hamburg (dpa) – Bundesliga referee Patrick Ittrich believes in further improvement of the video assistant for the new season.
“It’s a constant process. We are always working on the adjustment screws,” the Hamburg football referee told the German news agency before the start of the competitive match in the DFB Cup. “We are on track.”
At the start of the video assistant’s introduction for the 2017/18 season, which was controversial among some fans, the 41-year-old referee had to get used to handling the technical assistance. “In the beginning, when I went to the Review Area, I knew I had done something wrong. The whole stadium knew,” Ittrich said. “But the grossly wrong decisions are not made and the referee is no longer driven like a pig through the village.”
