Nuremberg (dpa) – Coach Jens Keller faces the second division football team 1. FC Nürnberg, which is threatened by the relegation. According to information from the newspaper “Bild”, the club, which has dropped to 16th place by a 1-1 draw in Holstein Kiel, will say goodbye to the coach for the relegation games.
Nuremberg media director Christian Bönig rejected the report in the evening. “I can’t confirm this at all at the moment,” Bönig said when asked about the DPA.
Keller had succeeded Austrian Damir Canadi at FCN in November, but was unable to lead the club out of the crisis. The old master threatens to relegate to the 3rd division after relegation to the Bundesliga last year.
According to “Bild”, FCN sports director Robert Palikuca has already contacted a potential successor. Today the supervisory board must be informed about the plans.
The relegation games will only take place on July 7 and 11, as the 3rd Division must complete two games. That would give a new coach some time.
