The award is the great individual goal of the Munich goalscorer. Now it is more and more likely. FIFA has nominated three players.
Robert Lewandowski is one step closer to his dream of being elected world footballer in 2020. The Polish top scorer from Bayern Munich is on the shortlist of the top three players of the world association Fifa, which was published on Friday. Competitors are Lionel Messi (Argentina / FC Barcelona) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal / Juventus Turin).
Lewandowski, top scorer of the previous Bundesliga and Champions League season, was voted Europe’s Footballer of the Year in early October. In the virtual freestyle to music with the former Dutch star player Ruud Gullit, he is clearly the favorite on Thursday due to the triple win with Bayern. Pernille Harder (Denmark), who moved from VfL Wolfsburg to Chelsea in the summer, Lucy Bronze (England / Manchester City) and French Wendie Renard (Olympique Lyon) are on the women’s shortlist.

The Bavarian superiors, led by Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, had vigorously promoted Lewandowski. He had “deserved the award like no other. That was the season of his life,” said Rummenigge.
Lewandowski’s teammate Manuel Neuer is in the final roster of the best goalkeepers with Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid) and Allison Becker (Liverpool FC). Triple coach Hansi Flick and Jürgen Klopp (Liverpool) have Marcelo Bielsa (Leeds United) as rivals.
