Saudi prince cancels a secret meeting with Netanyahu

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has canceled a secret meeting in Washington with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Middle East Eye reports that the Saudi prince decided that a secret meeting would take place next week after the news broke.

The report stated that the meeting was to take place after the Republican Party’s national convention of US President Donald Trump. Sources, who did not want to be named, said that the meeting had to be canceled due to leaks of complete secrecy.

A secret meeting was to take place between the leaders of Saudi Arabia and Israel in support of US President Donald Trump and his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner. The meeting was a “signal that the Saudi-Israeli relationship is moving in the right direction, even if it has not been officially announced.”

The source said the Saudi prince’s visit was part of his agreement with Trump. Under pressure from Trump and Kushner, Prince Salman agreed to attend the meeting.

The United Arab Emirates announced the cancellation of a tripartite meeting with Israel and the United States on Friday, just before the bin Salman meeting.

The meeting was called after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu protested the sale of a US F-35 fighter jet in the United Arab Emirates.
