Shaking victory against Ukraine: the DFB-Elf can still win – but the performance of national coach Löw’s team at 2-1 in Kiev was only occasionally convincing. The individual assessment.
Won 2: 1, the first win after several final disappointments – the success in Ukraine could be a knot for the DFB-Elf in view of the next international matches.
But after the playful victories against Spain, Switzerland (each 1: 1 after a 1-0 lead) and Turkey (3: 3 after three times lead), the team of national coach Joachim Loew was also unable to convince in Kiev. Too many bad passes, too many inaccuracies – so the hosts stayed in the game despite the playful superiority of the four-time world champion. Until the end, an equalization to 2-2 seemed possible.

“In some phases we gave the balls too easy”, admitted Löw after the game. Goalscorer Matthias Ginter said: “We are happy to have won. We also know that we were not playing against the stars in the sky. That was not our best game today.”
On Tuesday against Switzerland, an improvement is needed – because against Ukraine only a few players of the German team were able to fully convince. A Bayern star even had a bad day.
