Berlin (AP) – Footballer Toni Kroos has left open whether he can travel to the DFB team in the coming week because of his buttock injury.
“It now depends on how things get better every day,” said the 30-year-old Real Madrid professional in an interview with his brother Felix in the latest edition of his podcast “Simply Luppen”. National coach Joachim Löw has already been informed, the midfield director said.
The German national team will play a test match against Turkey on October 7 in Cologne, as well as the two Nations League matches on October 10 in Ukraine and three days later with Switzerland also at the Cologne stadium.
Kroos was injured on Saturday in the victory of the Spanish champions 3-2 over Betis Sevilla. During a closer examination, he said, a small fiber tear was found in the left lateral gluteal muscle. “It’s relatively uncool,” said the 2014 world champion. But it wasn’t dramatic. He expects a mandatory two-week break, but hopes to get fit earlier. Kroos will certainly miss the two league games against Real Valladolid on Wednesday and Sunday against UD Levante.
