Marseille (AP) – In the suspected doping case at the Tour de France, two suspects are again at large. This is reported by the French news agency AFP, citing the public prosecutor in Marseille.
This had confirmed overnight that a doctor and a physiotherapist had been in custody since Monday. The two suspects were released that night. After a raid on the French cycling team Arkéa-Samsic during the Tour de France, the public prosecutor’s office is investigating suspicions of “administering and prescribing a banned substance or method to an athlete without medical justification”.
There is a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a fine of 75,000 euros. Prosecutor Dominique Laurens had already announced that further hearings were planned. At the beginning of the week, the prosecutor launched a preliminary investigation to investigate the allegations. Colombian team captain Nairo Quintana has denied doping violations.
