Together with the French company OVHcloud, Deutsche Telekom wants to develop a European alternative to cloud solutions from the US. The platform must be particularly secure and, above all, protect data from the public sector.
Deutsche Telekom and the French company OVHcloud want to jointly develop a cloud platform for particularly sensitive data and thus face the American internet giants. The goal of this partnership is to provide a reliable cloud offering for the German, French and other European markets, the companies announced Monday. The offer should be available from early 2021. It addresses the specific needs of the public sector and key infrastructure managers and companies of all sizes operating in strategic or sensitive areas of public interest.
The cloud market is growing fast. Gartner experts expect growth of 6.3 percent this year to $ 257.9 million (approximately $ 218 million). This is driven by the increasing number of employees in the home office, which is why secure storage is increasingly important. The market share of the American tech giants Amazon, Microsoft and Google is estimated at 60 percent.
