Paris (dpa) – Unlike the US Open currently being held in New York, nearly all of the tennis industry’s top stars will return to the French Open in Paris from September 27.
The list of participants for the clay court classic in the French capital that was published on Wednesday includes the two number one in the world Rafael Nadal and Ashleigh Barty, who have canceled the US Open due to the coronavirus pandemic. The two Germans Julia Görges and Andrea Petkovic also want to start in Paris.
As things stand, the tournament will take place for spectators from September 27 to October 11. However, the number of infections in Paris has been increasing for days. The French capital was therefore declared a high risk area.
