After five games in the second division without victory Hamburger SV scores three points in a row for the first time. At the Böllenfalltor striker Simon Terodde won the match against host country Darmstadt.
With his ten and eleven goals this season, Simon Terodde helped Hamburger SV out of the autumn depression. The 32-year old scored twice to make it 2-1 for the promotion favorites of the 2nd Bundesliga in Darmstadt 98. The HSV ended a series of five games without a win and stayed on the heels of leader Holstein Kiel.
After a handball by Serdar Dursun, Terodde initially failed from the penalty spot on goalkeeper Marcel Schschuhe, but scored in the margin (70th). Tobias Kempe equalized for the lilies, who had to play in the minority after Patrick Herrmann (74th) received a yellow-red card. Terodde made the decision shortly before the end (87th).
HSV with their first win in over six weeks
For the Hanseatic League, who left the crucial points for their return to the Bundesliga in the fall last season, it was their first three-point since their 3-1 victory against the Würzburger Kickers on October 24. In Darmstadt, the team of coach Daniel Thioune managed to stabilize the defense after three defeats in a row. For a long time there was a lack of ideas and courage on the offensive.
The Darmstadt, which has only had one home win so far, are still at the bottom center of the table. The distance to the relegation site is one meter.
In the first half, both teams struggled to create scoring opportunities. When they got dangerously into the opponent’s penalty area, set pieces were the starting point. With substitute veteran Aaron Hunt, Thioune tried to strengthen the offensive after the break. The pressure from the guests increased and their efforts were rewarded with the penalty kick. However, Darmstadt struck back outnumbered before Terodde scored a second time.
