Paris (AP) – Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek has won the French Open, making it the first Grand Slam title of her career.

The 19-year-old won in the final in Paris 6: 4, 6: 1 against Australian Open winner Sofia Kenin from the US. Never before has a tennis professional from Poland won the title in the women’s or men’s league in one of the four main tournaments.

For their victory, Swiatek will receive a prize money of 1.6 million euros, while Kenin will receive 850,500 euros. The world ranking 54. Swiatek was the first player since the Belgian Justine Henin to win the Roland Garros victory in 2007 without losing a set.
