Berlin (dpa) – At the start of the competitive match for the professional clubs on the weekend with the DFB Cup, there will be only one live match on free TV. The ARD will broadcast the match of the third division MSV Duisburg against Borussia Dortmund on Monday (8.45 pm).
The second game, which is scheduled for the first main round on free-to-air television, has been postponed: the game between three-time champions FC Bayern and 1. FC Düren from the Middle Rhine League has been postponed from Friday to October 15 (8.45 p.m.) , to give Munich residents more time to recover after the Champions League victory on 23 August. The game will then be shown – as originally planned – on the special interest channel Sport1.
All 31 games of the first round from Friday to Monday will be broadcast live on the pay TV broadcaster Sky and shown at the conferences. Bayern’s rescheduled match will also take place on Sky.
Sport1 offers summaries of the highlights of the two games at the start on Friday (10.30 pm to midnight) and on Sunday (1.30 pm to 3.00 pm) of the games played so far. The ARD “Sportschau” broadcasts summaries of the cup matches on Saturday (6 pm) and Sunday (6.30 pm).
Sport1 has the broadcasting rights for four live matches from the first round to the quarter-finals per cup season, while ARD can show nine matches. Pay-TV channel Sky provides live coverage of all 63 cup matches. The current TV contract was signed in April 2018. It started in the 2019/20 season and will run until 2022.
