The round of 16 duels in the premier class is certain. There are also four German teams. But what are the chances for the Bundesliga club? A review.

For the first time in six years, all four Bundesliga clubs have qualified for the eighth finals in the Champions League. Besides FC Bayern, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, there is also Borussia Mönchengladbach.

On Monday the German teams got their opponents by draw. Not every team can easily speak of much.

The four German duels at a glance:

RB Leipzig – Liverpool FC
Sevilla FC – Borussia Dortmund
Lazio Rome – Bayern Munich
Borussia Mönchengladbach – Manchester City

What are the chances that all four teams will be represented in the quarter-finals? Chillreport with an assessment.

RB Leipzig vs. Liverpool FC

For Julian Nagelsmann’s team, the duel against Liverpool will be a gigantic task. The clubs will meet for the first time on February 16, 2021, with the return game at the Reds taking place on March 10 of next year.

The favorite is the team of trainer Jürgen Klopp. Even if the Premier League club is currently plagued with serious injury concerns, the team is intact – and generally more individual. But the residents of Leipzig don’t have to hide either. RB has not lost the last five games in the competition and is scratching the table. RB also defeated Manchester United 3-2 in the group stage.

Opportunities to get ahead?

With Liverpool, Leipzig got what is probably the toughest opponent. Probability of the quarter-finals: 45 percent.

Sevilla FC vs. Borussia Dortmund

There are currently turbulent times at BVB. Lucien Favre then had to leave Dortmund as a coach Edin Terzic will initially be the successor. The teams’ last meeting took place in the Europa League group stage in 2010.

Sevilla FC is the reigning winner of the Europa League. The duels against the Andalusians will not be a permanent success. Nonetheless, BVB has realistic chances of leaving the field as the winner. Sevilla is currently struggling in the national league. Most recently, there have been four defeats in the past eight games, the team is currently only fifth in the rankings – as is Dortmund, which are in danger of missing out on their goals for the season. Overall, BVB is still the easy favorite in the duels.

Opportunities to get ahead?

Sevilla is achievable, if not an easy opponent. Probability of the quarter-finals: 55 percent.

Lazio vs. Bayern Munich

Bayern and coach Hansi Flick have drawn Lazio Rome, which is probably the easiest opponent of all German teams. The first meeting will take place on February 23, 2021, the return match in the Allianz Arena on March 17. It is the first meeting of both teams.

As the reigning champion and champion of the Champions League, Munich are the clear favorites in the game. Lazio already struggled in the group stage, but were able to prove their qualities in the 3-1 win against Borussia Dortmund. But the Flick team also passed the group stage with five wins from six games with flying colors. However, the residents of Munich are currently paying tribute to the enormous burden – and have no winter break in which to recover.

Opportunities to get ahead?

The next round is a more than realistic goal for FC Bayern. Chance of quarter-finals: 90 percent.

Manchester City vs. Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia lost the last match of the group stage, but could look forward to the eighth finals due to the draw of the competition. Now Marco Rose and his team have to prove themselves against Pep Guardiola’s team.

Manchester City is clearly the favorite. The Citizens, like Bayern, did not lose a game in the group stage of the premier league. However, there were no top class opponents among the opponents. Despite 9th place at the table in the Premier League, the Pep-Elf is individually stronger, stunned on his pass relay. In addition, it remains the great dream of the English to win the Champions League for the first time. Coach Pep Guardiola has also been behind the handle pot since 2011, but has already been eliminated in the quarterfinals in the past three seasons.

Opportunities for progress?

Gladbach will need a lot of luck to move up against Manchester City. However, the Rose-Elf showed in the group stage that they can keep up with top teams such as Real Madrid or Inter Milan on good days. Chance of quarter-finals: 35 percent.
