The former BVB star is thriving again at PSV Eindhoven. Joachim Löw noticed that too. Now Mario Gotze talks about his conversations with the national team manager – and wants to return.
Joachim Löw praised him for his decision to join the Dutch top club PSV Eindhoven. Now Mario Gotze is talking about his relationship with the national coach. “Jogi and I are always in touch,” said Bild’s 2014 World Cup winning goalscorer.
Götze has scored three goals in six games for his new club and has been a regular member of the team since joining German coach Roger Schmidt. This is another reason the 28-year-old is hoping to return to the national team. “I would like to play for the national team again”, said Götze from “Bild”. He revealed: “The European Championship is a big dream for me, precisely because I was not there for the first time at the last World Cup tournament of 2018. My hunger for the title has grown even greater.”
Götze completed the last of his 63 caps in November 2017. In the 2-2 draw against France, the attacking all-rounder played 25 minutes.
