A black bow tie on US Vice President Mike Pence’s silver hair briefly stole the show from number two during their TV debate. “The fly that sat on Pence’s head for two minutes is perhaps the best remembered part of the evening,” wrote journalist Nate Silver of the FiveThirtyEight website.
Republican Pence and Democrat Kamala Harris met in Salt Lake City for their only pre-presidential debate on Nov. 3. Both could not be thrown off the ground by the fly.
Social media viewers, on the other hand, did: they were amused by the incident in numerous tweets.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden immediately used the fly for his and Harris’s campaign. He distributed a link on Twitter to a website with the address flywillvote.com (German: Fly Will Vote), which leads to a page inviting eligible voters to vote. Biden also shared a photo of herself with a fly swatter asking supporters for a donation.
