A human skull discovered by hikers in August sparked an investigation in Bavaria. Now the identity of the deceased has been clarified – he had disappeared ten years ago.
Investigators have assigned a skull found in the Upper Palatinate to a missing person through a DNA report. The then 80-year-old was last seen in Bad Neualbenreuth in Bavaria in July 2010, police said. There was no evidence of a violent crime.
Hikers had found the skull in a forest in mid-August. During an extensive search, researchers discovered other bone parts and items of clothing.
