The number of corona cases in Germany is rising sharply again. Parts of Berlin are therefore considered risk areas. This also has consequences for the German Bundestag.
Since the outbreak of the corona crisis in March, there have been a total of 37 corona virus infections in the German Bundestag. The “Saarbrücker Zeitung” reported Friday, citing the Bundestag government. The 37 cases were members of parliament, as well as employees of Bundestag politicians and service providers, a spokeswoman for the paper’s administration said.

However, this does not mean “that the infection process took place in the Bundestag,” said the spokeswoman. The infections may also have taken place in the constituency, on vacation or in the places of residence. About 10,000 people work in the Bundestag buildings.
Just a few weeks ago, Bundestag President Wolfgang Schäuble had warned MPs to comply with hygiene regulations. “This is especially true of wearing a mouth and nose cover in all Bundestag properties,” said the CDU politician at the start of a Bundestag session.

Wolfgang Schäuble imposed a mask requirement on Tuesday. This applies in all buildings of the Bundestag. The AfD had announced that it would file a lawsuit.
