The dice have been thrown, the opponents of the four German teams in the last sixteen of the Champions League have been determined. Mönchengladbach and Leipzig caught the thickest stretches.
After Real Madrid and Inter Milan in the group stage, the round of 16 debutant Borussia Mönchengladbach now faces the next European top club. The foal elf takes on Manchester City, the number two in England, with coach Pep Guardiola. That was the result of the draw on Monday afternoon in Nyon. There has already been a clash with the Citizen in the premier class four times. The balance from Gladbach’s point of view: one draw and three losses.
Another big game awaits the fans and players of RB Leipzig. The Saxons will have to deal with Jürgen Klopp’s FC Liverpool. The Reds won the premier class in 2019 and are reigning champions in England. For Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann it comes to a reunion with Klopp. As a coach of TSG Hoffenheim, Nagelsmann met Liverpool in August 2017. In the Champions League qualification, the English ruled (2: 1 and 4: 2), Hoffenheim had to compete in the Europa League.
