In 2021, the World Championship of Darts should also cause amazement. At least that’s the plan of Deta Hedman and Lisa Ashton. The two English women are the only women at the height of the darts season.
Last year, the now 26-year-old Fallon Sherrock surprised with her participation in the third round. Because no one had sherrock on the slip. Especially the English underestimated Mensur Suljovic. “The Gentle” flew in the second round against the trained hairdresser of the tournament.

Sherrock missed qualifying for the 2021 World Cup. But even without the “Queen of the Palace”, as she has been called since her brilliant performance, there is a well-known women’s competition for the superstars around Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright. Two World Cup seats were reserved for women. Two experienced athletes prevailed.
With strong performances in the “Women’s Series”, Ashton secured a ticket to the Darts World Cup in 2021. “The Lancashire Rose”, as the English is called, is competing for the second time. Already in 2019 she played in “Ally Pally”, but failed in the first round.

Even if her debut on the big stage could have gone better, the experience will help her in the battle for her first World Cup win.
The Dark Destroyer, as it is called, was born in Jamaica but competes for England. The 61-year-old paved the way for many female darts players in the 90s and 2000s.
Hedman has now taken a break for a number of years, but is in top form. She is currently ranked second in the world ranking for women’s darts. Experts think she’s a surprise or two.
