Munich (AP) – FC Bayern tackles the last game of the triple year after the successful world election for football players with extra momentum.
“I hope that a few things will be released tonight, that we get everything we can,” said coach Hansi Flick the day before Saturday’s best Bundesliga game (6.30pm / Sky) at league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
Flick left open whether Leon Goretzka, who was ill last, and Joshua Kimmich, who had been injured since early November, would return. After his meniscus operation, however, he no longer has to do without his midfield leader Kimmich. “He has to decide together with the medical service how to continue the path. As a coach I act accordingly,” said Flick. “He has a long career ahead of him, we want to limit mistakes as much as possible.”
Kimmich presented himself absolutely professionally in rehab, Flick reported. The national footballer’s return was originally scheduled for January. It could be faster now. In the long run, Flick is confident that the midfielder will win the title in a world election for footballers like Robert Lewandowski this year.
