The 107th Tour de France only ended on Sunday with a sensational victory. Just a day later, those involved in the tour are suspected of doping. Researchers found health products and drugs during the study.
The Tour de France, which has just ended, is threatened with a doping scandal. The public prosecutor’s office in Marseille confirmed on Monday to the AFP news agency that a preliminary investigation into suspected doping has been started. Two people “in the immediate vicinity” of a driver had already been taken into custody, names were not given initially.
Researchers find ‘many health products’
However, according to media reports from France, it should be the team of Arkea-Samsic and Dayer Quintana, brother of Colombian cyclist Nairo Quintana. The researchers are also targeting medical personnel. The team’s accommodation is said to have been examined on Wednesday during the ongoing tour of France.
Prosecutor Dominique Laurens confirmed to AFP that the investigation had been opened because during a search “many health products and medicines were found”. Among them in particular a “method that can be described as doping”.
Nairo Quintana and his team had continued the tour despite the robbery. On Sunday, the field reached Paris, the Colombian finished in 17th place overall, more than an hour behind winner Tadej Pogacar.
