Potsdam (AP) – Trainer Sofian Chahed from Turbine Potsdam is campaigning for the integration of the Bundesliga for women into the German Football League (DFL).
“I think this is a very important step”, said the 37-year-old in the “Potsdamer Neuesten Nachrichten”. The former Bundesliga professional hopes that membership in the DFL will raise public awareness of the women’s Bundesliga, which is still “highly extensible”. The women’s competitions are currently organized under the umbrella of the German Football Association.
In terms of tactics, Chahed, who has been taking care of the six-time German champion since the summer, sees hardly any differences with his male colleagues. However, Chahed is “a little disappointed” with the basic training of the women. This is not nearly as good as that of the adolescent boys. “You still have a lot of individual training to do on punching and fitting techniques,” said Chahed, who previously coached the Hertha BSC U16s.
