Five cyclists were killed in a serious accident near Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. According to media reports, a truck ran into a group of 20 cyclists and the athletes’ escort vehicle on Thursday (local time). Four other cyclists were injured, one of them seriously, the “New York Times” reported.
The accident occurred at US 95 south of Boulder City in the morning after the group departed on a joint field trip. An eyewitness, Michael Anderson, who rode at the front of the group, described the tragedy as the worst he had seen in his life. He turned to see his friends lying “torn to pieces” on the floor, he told the newspaper. He immediately recognized that three of the passengers were dead, and two more had died before his eyes. “I’ve cried all day.”
