She last traveled with the US president to the TV debate during the election campaign: Trump adviser Hope Hicks was infected with Corona. This has consequences for the head of state.
After the corona infection of a close adviser, US President Donald Trump says he wants to isolate himself from First Lady Melania for the time being. “The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process,” Trump wrote on Twitter Thursday night.
The White House had recently published Trump’s schedule for Friday, which included several appointments. Trump left open whether he would continue to isolate because of the incubation period if the first test result is negative.

Trump initially confirmed in an interview with Fox News that Hicks was infected with the virus. “She tested positive,” Trump said. “We spend a lot of time with her.”
On the road with Trump in the election campaign
Hicks had accompanied Trump on a trip to Cleveland, Ohio on Tuesday, where he led the first of three scheduled televised debates with election challenger Joe Biden. The 31-year-old traveled with Trump on the Air Force One presidential plane. Hicks was also in the helicopter with Trump when he flew back to Washington on Wednesday from a campaign appearance in the state of Minnesota.
The US president rarely wears a gas mask. He points out that he is often tested for the new virus. In the TV debate, Trump scoffed at the fact that Biden so often wore a protective mask – “the biggest mask I’ve ever seen.”
Hicks has been close to Trump for years, sometimes serving as director of communications at the White House. After a temporary resignation from the government team, she returned to the White House as an adviser this year.
