Berlin (dpa) – Goalkeeper Andreas Luthe was always aware that he would face competition, even if he switched from FC Augsburg to Bundesliga club 1. FC Union Berlin in the summer.
“From day one I assumed there was still movement. That was clearly communicated”, Luthe said in the podcast “Kicker meets DAZN”.
Although Union also brought Loris Karius from Liverpool FC to the An der Alten Försterei stadium after him, Luthe had the upper hand in the ensuing competition so far. “It’s not stressful for me,” he admitted. Rather, he takes advantage of the race for number one: “Loris makes me better than worse when I know he’s in my neck,” said the 33-year-old.
