Stuttgart (dpa) – Sports director Sven Mislintat of VfB Stuttgart is urging more patience with the Bundesliga club’s sporting and economic development.
“The biggest challenge at clubs like VfB Stuttgart and other traditional clubs is that the time frame is often not mentioned,” Mislintat said in the DAZN interview. “In a development in which there is also a step backwards, this step should hardly be taken in silence. The path is scrutinized very, very quickly. That makes it all the more important to move forward in the first year. And That is why it is so important to achieve our clear goal: to stay in the competition. That gives you time to develop yourself further and to be able to continue building. “
You shouldn’t be blinded by the club’s past successes, Mislintat said ahead of the Bundesliga match against FC Schalke 04 on (today) Friday (8.30pm). “We cannot say that VfB Stuttgart should always be in the top six with its experience. You have to create the economic opportunities for it, and there are none at the moment,” said the 47-year-old. “That’s because we hadn’t worked successfully in the previous years. That costs money. We are currently clearing that up. But that doesn’t work overnight.”
