VfB Stuttgart celebrated their first victory of the season. The Swabians won on Mainz 05, who are now completely winless. The match between Leverkusen and Leipzig did not produce a winner, however.
RB Leipzig scored a point in the top match against Bayer Leverkusen. The Champions League semi-finalist fought 1: 1 (1: 1) against last year’s fifth. Emil Forsberg (14th) had given Leipzig the lead, who equalized Kerem Demirbay (20th) for Leverkusen.
VfB runs match against Mainz – 05er in crisis
After the training strike of the week, FSV Mainz 05 lost the home game despite a 1-0 lead. The team of coach Achim Beierlorzer lost to the newly promoted VfB Stuttgart 1: 4 (1: 1). Silas Wamangituka (45th), Daniel Didavi (61st), Mateo Klimowicz (80th) and Sasa Kalajdzic (86th) scored the goals for Stuttgart’s first win of the season. Robin Quaison (13th) had put Mainz ahead. Moussa Niakhate (Mainz) had to leave the field with yellow-red (77th).
Co-promoter Arminia Bielefeld celebrated a 1-0 (0-0) victory against 1. FC Köln thanks to a goal by Joan Simun Edmundsson (78th). Borussia Mönchengladbach came home no more than 1: 1 (0: 0) against 1. FC Union Berlin. The 1-0 lead for the hosts of Marcus Thuram (56th) equalized Nico Schlotterbeck (79th).
Meanwhile, title contender Borussia Dortmund suffered a surprise defeat in Augsburg. The runner-up lost 0: 2 (0: 1). Felix Uduokhai (40th) and Daniel Caligiuri (54th) brought about 6,000 fans to the Augsburg stadium with their goals for the unexpected defeat of the title contender. With the second victory in the second game, Augsburg took over, at least temporarily, the first place in the table. Read more about this game here.
