The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have normalized relations with Israel, but Qatar has refused to do so. One of the country’s officials said that normalization of relations could not be the solution to the Israeli-Palestinian crisis. Unlike other Arab countries in the Gulf, Qatar will not establish diplomatic relations with Israel. Qatar-based Al Jazeera reported.
“We do not think the normalization of relations is at the root of this crisis,” said Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Lalwa al-Khatar, in an interview with Bloomberg. Therefore this initiative cannot solve the crisis.
A spokesman for the Qatari foreign ministry said that at the root of the crisis was that the Palestinian people were living in misery with any country under occupation.
Al-Khatar made the remarks when Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates held a signing ceremony at the White House on Tuesday to normalize relations with Israel. The agreement would establish diplomatic, trade, security and other relations between the two Arab countries and Israel.
