Last night was already emotional – not just for Joe Biden himself, but millions of Americans as well. The Democrat was elected the next president of the United States. In his first speech after the election victory, Biden addressed the Americans and the world in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware.
But one moment brought the emotional highlight of the evening: after Biden’s speech, fireworks lit up the sky and the Coldplay song “Sky Full of Stars” sounded. The song has special meaning to Biden, as Coldplay was his late son Beau’s favorite band, CNN reports. At the top of the video or here you can see the emotional scene.
Son died of a brain tumor
Beau Biden died of a brain tumor in 2015 at the age of 46. Coldplay singer Chris Martin sang the song “Til Kingdom Come” at his funeral. Martin had offered to perform when he learned Beau was a huge fan.
A little background on the generally unknown importance of the Biden’s walk-off music:

Joe Biden and his son are said to have been in a close relationship – this gesture shows. In his speech, Biden also referred to Beau when he spoke of his love for the national anthem “On Eagle’s Wings”. On election day, Biden had visited his son’s grave in Wilmington.
