Wolfsburg women believe in Champions League victory

San Sebastian (AP) – German women’s football champions VfL Wolfsburg are expecting and hoping for victory for the Champions League final on Sunday (8 p.m. / Sport 1) against defending champion Olympique Lyon.

Trainer Stephan Lerch said after the last training in San Sebastian that there were no injured or sick players and that he could therefore provide the optimal line-up for the final.

“We are the challenger, but we think we can,” Lerch said. You need a perfect day to beat Lyon’s top team, Lerch said. “We believe in our strengths and want to emphasize Lyon. Neither team likes it when the opponent builds up too much pressure. But we have to use 100 percent of our performance,” the coach stressed.

Getting Lyon into trouble requires creativity in addition to team spirit. “Luckily we have some players out there who can be very creative. But Lyon has them too, so we have to be very careful and don’t let players out of sight,” Lerch said.
